My name is Juan Alanis Jr. , I am a native Texan born in Houston. I was raised however in numerous cities across Texas and Mexico, including San Antonio, Pflugerville, Austin, Brownsville, Laredo in Texas and Saltillo, Mexico. I have been in the Austin area since 2010 and a Leander resident since 2019.
I am currently a Board Member of the Leander Library Foundation. During my time in Laredo, I served as Chairperson of the City of Laredo Youth Advisory Council and co-chair of the Community Involvement Sub-Committee of the Laredo-Webb County Education Committee.
I earned a masters degree in Educational Administration from Texas A & M International University in Laredo. I also hold bachelors degrees in meteorology from Mississippi State University and Radio-TV-Film from the University of Texas at Austin.
I am currently a middle school mathematics teacher and have been teaching for a total of 12 years.
I have been married for 18 years and have two children, both attending schools in the Leander Independent School District.
